Hi, my name is Nathan. I’m 44 and was born with spina bifida. My truck has always been my independence — it’s how I get to my fishing spots, volunteer events, doctor appointments, and everywhere else life takes me. Unfortunately, my truck has finally reached the point where it’s only safe for in-town use, and I can’t keep up with repairs anymore. The clock is ticking on its in-town life as well.
If you know me, you know I’m happiest with a fishing rod in my hand. I love chasing walleye, reeling in big catfish, shooting pool in one of my leagues and attending church on Sundays.
Giving back has also become a big part of my life. I’m an active volunteer with Nebraska Spina Bifida, helping raise money for families across the state. In the last couple years, I organized a community fish fry and a wheelchair pool tournament at my local Eagles Club. With amazing support we raised $20,000 and every dollar went to support Nebraskans living with spina bifida.
The tough part is that without a reliable truck, I’m unable to attend out-of-town events throughout the state. I don’t need anything fancy — just a solid pickup with rear doors that hinge (barn doors) for me to load my wheelchair. Someday I’ll need a fully accessible vehicle, but for now, a dependable road worthy truck will do.
Any contribution, no matter the size, means the world to me. It helps me stay active in the community and keeps me out on the water chasing that elusive master-angler walleye.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
