I am a disability advocate, trained paralegal, and developing nonprofit leader committed to strengthening accessibility, equity, and self-determination for people with disabilities. My work spans local, state, and national organizations, where I use both my lived experience and professional training to help create more inclusive systems that support meaningful participation for all.
For five years, I served as an Advocate Mentor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Munroe-Meyer Institute, providing one-on-one mentorship to individuals with disabilities. In that role, I encouraged critical examination of policies and practices within organizations and systems to enhance access and inclusivity. I also previously served as Council Co-Chair and on the Executive Committee of the Board for the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, contributing to national conversations on disability leadership and policy.
I recently completed my Paralegal Certificate, building on my Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and my internship with Disability Rights Nebraska. Alongside my legal training, I am expanding my work in the nonprofit sector. I am part of the Civic Nebraska Apiary Cohort, a program focused on strengthening civic engagement and community leadership. This experience is helping me grow new skills in community organizing, nonprofit strategy, and collaborative problem-solving, all of which support my long-term goal of advancing disability rights through both legal and nonprofit pathways.
Beyond these roles, I present at conferences, train self-advocates, and write about disability rights and accessibility. I continue to grow as a leader through programs like the AUCD Leadership Academy and the UNO Young Alumni Academy.
Accessible transportation is essential for me to continue this work to mentor others, participate in community leadership, attend speaking engagements, and maintain my independence. A wheelchair-accessible van would allow me to stay active in the advocacy, nonprofit, and policy spaces where my voice can make a meaningful impact.
Your support helps me keep doing what I love: empowering others, advancing disability rights, and building a more accessible world.
